WHY CONSIGN?

Earn Money!  Clean out the closets & turn your child's outgrown clothing or unused items into cash.  Earn more money than by selling at a consignment store & sell your items more quickly.  You will receive 70% of the selling price (60% if you choose to use handwritten cards) minus a $9 participation fee (deducted from your check after the sale). 

Shop Early!  Come join the fun & excitement at our  "PRESALE EVENT".  Volunteers & Consignors are admitted extra early to shop the best selection before the sale opens to the public.  The entrance fee is also waived!  Remember, only 1 person will be admitted per volunteer shift worked and per consignor #.

Hassle-Free!  No wasted time with weekend garage sales or     listing on eBay.  No waiting or multiple calls to see what you     have earned from a consignment store.  We organize,     advertise, and sell your items for you, then mail your check     within 2 weeks!  

  WE ACCEPT:

• Clothing – Children’s clothing (size NB-juniors) including costumes, holiday & special occasion, school & scouts uniforms, dancewear. Current styles & current season only! (100 hanging clothing item max)
• Shoes & Accessories – seasonal shoes in excellent condition (max 4 pair per gender), belts & purses, hats.
• Sports Equipment & Seasonal Items - any sports-related gear, backpacks & outdoor toys/games.  All must be in like-new condition only!
• Toys & Books – parenting/pregnancy/children's books & videos, puzzles, games, toy kitchens, dress-up, art/train tables & accessories, stuffed animals (must do something-talk, move, light up).  Be sure to include batteries!  *Great seller*- large bags filled with like items (action figures like Star Wars etc., dolls, Barbies, infant or bath toys).
• Bedding & Room Decor – bedding sets-infant & juvenile, lamps, wall art, blankets & crib sheets.
• Baby Furniture and Equipment – gliders, strollers, swings, monitors, car seats (*see note below), pack & plays, carriers, high chairs, diaper bags, support pillows, bath towel sets & infant gift items.  All equipment MUST be thoroughly cleaned & checked for safety recall!

  WE DO NOT ACCEPT:

• Items that have been recalled or do not comply with the laws of the state of SC.  CONSIGNORS are responsible for verifying if an item has been recalled.  Some resources available for checking recalls:  www.recalls.gov, www.cpsc.gov, or call 1-800-424-9398.
  
• Bathing suits, underwear, pacifiers or nipples unless NEW!
• Car seats that are more than 5 yrs old or that have been in an accident (even minor fender-benders).  Check the date on the back/side of your car seat!
• CRIBS.  Due to safety reasons (too many recent recalls)
• Fall/Winter items during the Spring sale & vice versa.
• Dirty toys, furniture or equipment. 
• Outdated clothing or clothing with stains, tears, missing buttons, pilling, pet hair, foul odors or broken zippers.   
• Battery-operated toys that are missing batteries – (can purchase batteries at Dollar Store)
  

Keep in mind- this is not a yard sale! Only bring what you would consider purchasing yourself!  While we promise to care for your items like they were our own, Merry Go ‘Round is not responsible for fire, theft, accident or damage to items.

  PREPARING ITEMS

1.     Clothing must be freshly laundered & on a wire or plastic children’s hanger with the hook opening to the left (like a question mark).  Items that are ironed look newer so they sell quicker & at a slightly higher price!

2.     Secure pants & 2-piece outfits to upper portions of hanger with safety pins.  Do not pin articles of clothing to each other as this can cause holes/tearing.

3.     Click on link to register as a new or returning consignor & begin entering your items using the online template.  Print onto white cardstock (available at WalMart, Target, office supply stores, etc.) using your printer's "normal" setting (not "quick print" & not "better/best" settings as barcodes will be too light/too dark & not scan well).

4.     Carefully affix each tag to the top right corner of your clothing item with a SAFETY PIN (no longer accepting straight pins due to tags falling off & potential for injury!)  For non-clothing items, affix tags using methods that prevent them from being lost.  Place small parts for toys in a separate Ziploc bag, use clear packing tape to tape bag shut & attach bag securely to item/toy. 

  PRICING ITEMS

1.     With the current state of the economy, many people are on a budget.  Our sale will be attracting these price-conscious shoppers more than ever, so it’s important to price your items accordingly! 

2.     We know from experience that consignors who price their items to sell (25 – 40% of the original cost) & participate in the Half Price Sale will sell more items & have higher sales totals!  If you’re not sure how to price an item, ask us. 

3.     Brands that are in high demand will sell for slightly more, especially if item is new:  boutique store items, Kelly’s Kids, Ragsland, Beaux et Belles, Gymboree, GAP, Old Navy, Lands End, TCP, Justice, Aeropostále, Limited Too, Abercrombie, etc.  Smocked clothing is also a big seller! 

4.     Please keep in mind that we receive a large amount of infant clothing- be very selective in what you bring & price it competitively!

  DROP OFF

1.     DROP OFF FOR SPRING/SUMMER SALE:  We will receive items at Hartsville YMCA (outside gym entrance), 111 E. Carolina Ave. on Mon. 3/5 & Tues. 3/6.  A full list of available days/times will be found on our automated system after you register as a consignor.  You may drive around to the rear entrance of the gym, but please remember not to block the driveway as there are other businesses that use that parking lot.   

2.     Please have all clothing grouped into gender & size; this will expedite your drop off appointment!  We will quickly examine your items then have you place them on the appropriate racks. 

3.     You will be asked to sign in on the clipboard.  The drop off process should take about 15-20 min.  Please do not be offended if we are unable to accept some of your items.  This allows us to maintain the highest quality sale. 

  PICK UP

1.     PICK UP FOR SPRING/SUMMER SALE:  Any unsold items must be picked up SAT 3/10 from 4 - 5:30pm. 

2.     Remaining items will be donated to local charities of our choice.

3.     This is very important since we are unable to store your items!  If you indicated that you would like your unsold items returned, you MUST come and pick them up at the indicated time.  There are NO EXCEPTIONS to this as we need to be out of the facility.
